Notre-Dame Basilica | Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal

The original church of Notre Dame was built on this site in 1672. However when the congregation outgrew the church in 1824, James O’Donnell was commissioned to design the new building.  The sanctuary was finished in 1830, the first tower in 1843, and the interior in 1879.  The intimate Chapelle du Sacré-Coeur was completed in 1888.
